Helping The NJ Woman's Christian Temperance Union Celebrate Red Ribbon Week 2025

Red Ribbon Week 2025 will be observed October 23 – 31. The theme for Red Ribbon Week 2025 is "Life Is A Puzzle, Solve It Drug Free.” The theme was submitted by Cheryl Holsapfel and Carter Weinmann from Solon Middle School. The theme is meant to convey that every choice we make in life is a piece of a bigger puzzle. By choosing to live a drug-free lifestyle, young people can put the pieces together to build a strong, bright, and healthy future. Red Ribbon Week was started after the death of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who in 1985 was brutally tortured and murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico. As a tribute to SA Camarena, high school friend, Henry Lozano, created “Camarena Clubs” and the wearing of a red ribbon to show their opposition to drugs.
In 1988, the National Family Partnership (NFP) coordinated the first National Red Ribbon Week with President and Mrs. Reagan serving as honorary Chairpersons. Since then, the Red Ribbon Campaign has taken on national significance, and NFP continues to coordinate the campaign for families, schools, and communities across the nation each year. Wearing red ribbons during the month of October continues to represent a pledge to live drug-free and honors the sacrifice of all who have lost their lives in the fight against drugs.

Donations Of Any Kind Gladly Accepted

 God has richly blessed us in strange but wonderful ways since the publishing of the our Fall Newletter October first! Everything had a expiration date of at least a year and some things did not expire for two years! Cases upon cases of cranberry sauce, cranberry juice and grape juice were donated to Crafts 4 Hope Foundation and distrubuted to various nonprofits and individual families in preparation for Thanksgiving meals. A local drugstore got rid of inventory and Crafts 4 Hope Foundation was able to distribute 9 prenancy tests, 32 bottles of baby blue nail polish, 16 fleets enemas, 12 bottles of isoprpyl alcohol, 12 bottles of hydration lotion and one 12 pack of adult diapers.The most touching story was the giving away of the fleets enema because it was given privately to someone being treated for stage 4 cancer of the lungs and because of various medications they take, they were experiencing constipation.  So, you see beautiful souls? Crafts 4 Hope Foundation Planning Christmas In July Fundraiser

I am planning the fundraiser now even though it is just the last day of March. Fundraisers take a lot of planning. I did not want to do a fundraiser at Christmas because I am of the opinion that it would take away from the true meaning and purpose of Christmas and that is the gift of Christ our Saviour and the giving of gifts to those less fortunate. Crafts 4 Hope Foundation gives what it can everyday of the year. It costs approximately $2.00 per person per crafting event for crafting supplies. The newsletter and postage is another huge expense for the foundation. It is for these reasons monetary donations are needed and a fundraising event is very important. CHRISTMAS IN JULY is our turn to shine.
